As of 12/8/2022, from the BumbleBear Discord-
We're about a month out from replacing a lot of hardware in our next batch of KQ machines as well as moving to a new OS (no longer using Ubuntu). Once this is complete, we'll be supporting two newer PCs, and it will be easier for us to add PCs with the new installer; however, I would not recommend using other PCs outside of these 2 or the old NUC.
The new PCs are comparable in price to a new NUC7i5BNH; however, we have tested them to support 4k output. And I would recommend using these new PCs to 'future-proof' your cabs going forward.
New PC models:
Asus pn51-e1
Intel nuc11tnhi5000
Brief summary of 4K upgrade:
4K upgrade is unnecessary if both of your displays have a max resolution of 1080p. A 4K upgrade is only necessary if one of your displays has a max resolution of 4K. 4K upgrade will require:
A new PC (listed above)
Replacing ALL HDMI cables to HDMI 2.1 or above standard
A new HDMI splitter that can support mixed output resolutions (specifically 4k @ 60hz) with DIP switches that control the specific outputs. Note: some HDMI splitters have DIP switches that control the 'automatic' behavior of mixed output control. We do not recommend these types of HDMI splitters.
More info to come on 4K upgrade.
